Tonight’s super-sized premiere of Heroes Reborn starts off with two brand new episodes (“Brave New World” / “Odessa”) which promise to introduce us to a new cast of characters with exciting superpowers that they’ll use to save the world.
When the original Heroes premiered back in 2006, it quickly became one of the top new shows of 2006. However, interest in the show waned at the end of each season. And even the most dedicated Heroes fans will admit that the last two seasons did not live up to expectations. Still, Heroes continued to have a vocal and dedicated fanbase that was adamant about bringing the show back.
In 2014, NBC announced that Heroes would return and as a special 13 episode event mini-series titled, Heroes Reborn.
Heroes Reborn will introduce viewers to a new ensemble cast. Of course, this show wouldn’t be the same without a link to the past, so old favorites such as Noah Bennet (Jack Coleman), Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka), Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg), Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurtny), and the Haitian (Jimmy Jean-Louis), will be returning.
(No word yet on the possible return of Zachary Quinto’s unforgettable portrayal of supervillain Sylar. Then again, we suspect that any appearance by Sylar will probably be revealed as a surprise intended to delight fans of the original show.)
Read on for a synopsis of the tonight’s two-hour season premiere of Heroes Reborn:
After a terrorist attack in Odessa, Texas, left the city decimated and lives in shambles, those with extraordinary abilities are in hiding after being blamed for the catastrophic event. A new world order has them being hunted by those with nefarious motives, such as Luke (Zachary Levi) and Joanne Collins (Judi Shekoni), who are out to avenge a tragic loss of their son. Meanwhile, Noah Bennet (Jack Coleman) has taken measures to put his old life behind him and start over, until he comes face to face with Quentin Frady (Henry Zebrowski), a conspiracy theorist out to uncover the truth behind the Odessa tragedy. Elsewhere, some are discovering their newfound skills. Awkward teen Tommy (Robbie Kay) just wants to be normal and win the girl of his dreams, Emily (Gatlin Green), but normalcy is virtually impossible after learning of a new ability that terrifies him. Coming from a very sheltered upbringing, a bold and ethereal teenager, Malina (Danika Yarosh), has been told she is destined for greatness. In Tokyo, a quiet and unique young woman, Miko (Kiki Sukezane), is trying to track down her missing father while hiding an extraordinary secret that will make her a force to be reckoned with. In Los Angeles, a different type of hero is emerging through former soldier Carlos (Ryan Guzman). For better or for worse, some are fated to cross paths with assorted heroes of the past and together their ultimate destiny is nothing less than saving the world and mankind. (via NBC)
