Weller thinks Jane is Taylor Shaw, but is there anyway to prove it? Get a sneak peek of tonight’s Blindspot, airing at 10:00pm ET|PT on NBC.
In last week’s Blindspot episode (“A Stray Howl“), we saw Jane Doe become a more integral part of the FBI’s investigations. Weller took it upon himself to help trigger Jane’s muscle memory. In the course of their sparring, Jane had another memory of killing a nun in a church (she shot the nun right in the back of the head!). This, along with the remembering target practice with Mysterious Bearded Man, left Jane frazzled. What if she wasn’t a good person before the amnesia?
This week Patterson was able to decipher another one of Jane’s tattoos. The cipher (unlocked using the first clue from the Chao/bombing tattoo) read Major Arthur Gibson, a grounded Air Force pilot. After attempting to meet Gibson at his Brooklyn home (and having Gibson blow up his own house!), Weller and his team realized there was more going on. It turned out that Gibson was seeking revenge against his commanding officers. While at the Air Force he participated in a domestic drone program that killed a lot of innocent people. When Gibson attempted to blow the whistle, his partner ratted him out and was severely punished. However, he’d obviously gone too far—he even kidnaped a drone specialist’s young daughter Emily! Weller and Jane were able to track Gibson down to a construction site, where he planned to bomb the NYC FBI Headquarters. After a shoot-out with Weller and a high-speed chase with Jane (and two major car accidents), Gibson was apprehended and Emily was found. The accident triggered more of the nun memory…apparently it was a man disguised as a nun! Jane shot him and took some sort of jump-drive.
But perhaps more importantly for us, we got a major clue about who Jane might be! At the beginning of the episode, we met Weller’s sister and nephew, who were staying with him. The sister asked if he planned to attend a memorial service for “Taylor.” Weller said no and insisted that their father not attend the service either. Fast-forward to the end of the episode: Weller told Mayfair about Taylor Shaw, a young girl who was his childhood friend. When they were young, Taylor was kidnapped, never to be heard from again. Even more interesting, Weller’s dad was blamed for Taylor’s disappearance! In last week’s episode when Weller hugged Jane, he noticed a scar on the back of her neck…Taylor had a similar scar from falling out of a tree when playing with him. According to Weller, Jane had the same scar, same eyes, was right around the same age…was she Taylor Shaw?! A DNA test was the first step.
But perhaps we would soon find out even sooner because at the end of the episode, Mysterious Bearded Man showed up at Jane’s house!
In tonight’s episode “Eight Slim Grins”, written by Eoghan Mahony and Martin Gero and directed by Steve Shill:
JANE’S NAVY SEAL TATTOO TIES HER TO A CRIMINAL WHO MAY HAVE CLUES TO HER PAST—An infamous crew of thieves almost pulls off the perfect jewel heist, except one thief – with a Navy SEAL tattoo identical to Jane’s – is captured at the scene of the crime. Does this man know Jane? Meanwhile, Jane receives a visit – and an ambiguous warning – from the mysterious bearded man from her first memory (guest star Johnny Whitworth) as Weller and Mayfair struggle with Jane’s role on the team. Check out these 14 images from the upcoming show! It looks like Jane gets ahold of Mysterious Bearded Man, so hopefully he’ll be able to give us some clues about her real identity. We also see that Weller and Jane will have a confrontation, perhaps about how much she should participate in the FBI cases.
Make sure to tune into NBC at 10:00pm ET|PT for the new Blindspot and come watch/live tweet we watch “Eight Slim Grins”.
