Tonight Alex continues to search for the real terrorist, and clues lead her to one of her closest classmates at the academy. Watch a sneak peek of Quantico, airing at 10:00pm ET|PT on ABC.
Last week’s Quantico (“Cover“) picked up with the NATs engaging in combat training and teamwork building exercises. Alex and Shelby were doing well, yet other teams struggled…like Ryan and Simon and Nimah and Nathalie. The activity of the week focused on behavioral/psychological profiling, once again focussed on their classmates. NATs and analysts would detail each other’s strengths and weaknesses. They turned in their reports and Assistant Director Shaw was impressed. She gave them the evening off…but not before posting the profiles for everyone to see. The trainees were pretty angry with one another, but hey, the truth hurt. Miranda expected them to submit three names of NATs that should be cut from the academy, and if they refused, she would pick ten to send home.
The anger turned physical when Simon and Ryan confronted each other. Simon didn’t like being called creepy and calculated; Ryan didn’t like being called out for the attention he paid to Alex and his knowledge of Quantico (Simon seemed to know that Ryan wasn’t really a NAT). Alex broke up the fight and urged her classmates not to turn on each other. But it was too late: Simon had already gone to Miranda to give the three names. However, it turned out to be another exercise testing their character. Miranda wouldn’t cut anyone, but Simon received a formal reprimand for turning on his team.
Meanwhile, Liam finally provided Alex with her father’s FBI files that documented 20 years of his service. Alex put off reading the file, fearing she would learn something she didn’t want to know. That proved true…she learned her dad was a hero who saved hundreds of lives. She felt so much guilt for killing her father. Unsurprisingly, Ryan was there to comfort her.
And in a series of very interesting scenes:
- Raina didn’t like that she had to hold back from doing her best because Nimah was below average. And in the end, Nimah went home and left her sister to finish the academy by herself.
- Miranda visited her son who was in prison…apparently she had put him there. We found out he was about to get paroled, which didn’t seem to alleviate any of Miranda’s concerns.
- Shelby transferred $1 million to an unidentified bank account.
- Nathalie tried to skype with her daughter, but was prevented from doing so by a man who resented her leaving for Quantico.
In the days after the attack on Grand Central Terminal, this time with the FBI bringing in Alex’s mom for questioning. Executive Assistant Director Clayton also arrived and demanded swifter action to find Alex. They needed to get ahold of the narrative as soon as possible.
Liam talked to Sita privately, and it seemed that the two were also holding secrets between them (something linked to the history between Liam and Alex’s father, Michael?). Sita still wasn’t convinced that Alex was guilty. If anything this was her fault for being so secretive about Michael being an agent. We learned that Sita was still protecting a secret about something Liam and Michael did.
Soon after, when Sita was in the bathroom, Miranda cornered her and begged Sita not to turn on Alex. But when Liam showed her a video of Alex beating Simon up (not at all what it seemed!), Sita has enough. She told Liam that when Alex was living in India, she disappeared for whole year. Then Sita went on TV with Liam and Director Clayton to beg Alex to turn herself in.
Elsewhere, Alex had escaped from the city and found help from Simon. He had been kicked out of Quantico (we weren’t sure why…something with a bomb?) and was now working with a tech start-up. Ryan reached out to Simon to help Alex figure out who the real terrorist was. Simon used his firm’s access to secure databases to try and locate the country the C-4 explosive was manufactured in. Interestingly, Alex’s fingerprints were on the device, but the scar she got during the sink-or-swin exercise at the academy wasn’t there. The last time she was finger-printed was before Quantico, which meant someone had been planning to frame Alex before she even arrived. As they sat in Simon’s office, the alarms went off…it turned out he’d called the police! Apparently, he’d done it to cover himself…Simon couldn’t be seen as helping Alex of his own free will.
As Alex watched her Mom on television, Simon took a call outside…a call from Director Clayton, who called him Agent Asher!
In tonight’s episode “Kill”, written by Cherien Dabis, directed by Rachel Morrison, with returning guest stars Rick Cosnett as Elias Harper, Anna Khaja as Sita Parrish, and Mark Pellegrino as FBI Director Clayton:
THE RECRUITS COMPLETE A HOSTAGE RESCUE TRAINING EXERCISE THAT SHAKES ALEX’S CONFIDENCE, WHILE IN THE FUTURE, SHE QUESTIONS THE INNOCENCE OF ONE OF HER CLOSEST CLASSMATES—At Quantico, the recruits are tasked with performing a hostage rescue training exercise that shakes Alex, making her question her ability and whether she should quit Quantico. While in the future, Alex continues to search for clues, finding one that questions the innocence of one of her closest classmates. But is her clue really what she thinks? No one is who they seem. (via ABC)
Nope, no one can be trusted. Truth be told, I don’t know that I believe Alex is completely trustworthy. Time will tell…
Watch two clips from the upcoming show. In the first, after their training exercise, Alex is convinced the doesn’t have what it takes to be an agent. Ryan tries to reassure her. And in the second clip, Alex confesses to Ryan that she originally enrolled at Quantico to find out the truth about her father, that’s it. When she found it, she was ready to leave, but Ryan helped her realize she actually really wants to be an agent:
Goodness, the things Ryan says…so many swoony feels! But like I mention before, we can’t trust anyone’s motives! At Quantico, we know Ryan is has been injecting himself into Alex’s life on Liam’s orders. But are his feelings real? And in the post-attack future, do we believe Ryan is actually wanting to help Alex, or did he frame her for the attack himself??? SO MANY QUESTIONS!
Check out 15+ photo stills from “Kill”, which give us a glimpse into the hostage training exercise, as well as Alex working with Simon and Shelby in the future timeline. Tune into ABC at 10:00pm ET|PT for the new Quantico and remember to come live tweet too!
