When Bow and Dre take Zoey to visit colleges, Charlie ends up watching the rest of the Johnson kids, who help him try to get his old girlfriend (Amber Rose!) back. Watch a sneak peek of tonight’s black-ish, airing at 9:31pm ET|PT on ABC.
black-ish returns tonight after a brief break for last week’s Country Music Awards! The last time we were with the Johnsons, it was Halloween and some of Dre’s relatives came to town for the celebration.
“Jacked o’Lantern” began with Dre reflecting on how much he’s always loved Halloween, even as a kid. Now that he lived in a “good candy” neighborhood, Dre looked forward to having kids from all over LA come by for the fun. Even his “hood cousins” would come by to hang out, though the cousins got more enjoyment out of beating up the Johnson kids. Dre let it happen because rough-housing was a necessary part of growing up; he and his cousin June Bug (guest-star Michael Strahan) would do the very same!
This year, the Johnsons were the Obamas, with Dre as POTUS himself, Bow as FLOTUS, Zoey and Diane as Sasha and Malia, Jack as Bo (the family pup), and Junior as their secret-service detail. This year when the cousins arrive the Junior and his siblings were ready for the fight.
Interestingly, June Bug surprised Dre by coming for the festivities too and Dre was the one getting molly-whopped! June Bug really gave Dre a hard time, questioning if he was really the father of his children (since Dre wasn’t attractive and the kids were), flirting with Bow, and telling stories about how weak Dre was.
Dre got really upset and, with Bow’s encouragement, reached out to June Bug (after all, Junie probably picked on him out of jealousy). But it turned out that June Bug wasn’t bad-off since he just won a $2 million police brutality law suit. He just liked to hear Dre scream…like a tea kettle (LOL!). What was the problem?! Well, according to Mama Ruby, June Bug had been protecting Dre this whole time, beating up people who made fun of Dre and even pushing him out of a car to keep Dre from getting arrest for drunk-driving.
The Hood Cousins tried to get back at the Johnson kids by tearing up Junior’s room. However, with Diane’s leadership, they were able to demoralize their cousins with mean truth-bombs. As a result, the cousins didn’t want to go trick-or-treating. This didn’t stop the Johnsons from being jacked for their candy by some other visitng trick-or-treaters. However, the Hood Cousins had their back—no one messes with the family!
Tonight’s episode “Charlie in Charge” was written by Lindsey Shockley, directed by Matt Sohn, and guest-stars Amber Rose as Dominique (Charlie’s ex-girlfriend):
CHARLIE BABYSITS THE KIDS AND THEY HELP HIM RECONNECT WITH AN OLD FLAME (GUEST STAR AMBER ROSE) WHILE DRE AND BOW TAKE ZOEY TO VISIT BROWN UNIVERSITY—While Dre and Bow take Zoey on a trip to visit Bow’s alma mater, Brown University, Dre battles with his fear of flying through a little pharmaceutical assistance to get him through the flight. One loopy miscommunication leads to another and somehow Charlie ends up babysitting the kids. When Charlie shares details about Dominique, an old flame that has come back into the picture, the kids hatch a plan to charm her by pretending that the home and children are all a part of Charlie’s domesticated lifestyle. Meanwhile, Bow becomes over-excited about sharing Brown University with Zoey and after a series of embarrassing moments, threatens to turn Zoey off from Brown altogether. (via ABC)
This upcoming show is going to be HILARIOUS! I love the idea of Zoey, Bow, and Dre exploring college options, and I can totally see how Bow’s eagerness might backfire in terms of keeping Zoey interested.
Also, I wonder if tonight we might FINALLY learn about the beef between Diane and Charlie! He should not be anybody’s babysitter, and this plan to pass off the Johnson home (AND KIDS) as Charlie’s probably won’t pan out…
Check out these two sneak peeks from “Charlie in Charge”! In the first clip, Bow, Dre, and Zoey arrive at Brown and call the babysitter to check in with the other kiddos…clearly there’s some sort of misunderstanding. And in the second video, with Dominique’s impending arrival, Junior, Jack, and Diane advise Charlie on the best way to win his girlfriend back:

Tonight, Amber Rose’s visit means the return of the immortal phrase: “This seems right to you?” https://t.co/KlShofkAwF — black-ish (@black_ishABC) November 11, 2015
I have to agree with Diane… should Jack really be checking out Dominique like that?! She is gorgeous though! I mean Charlie is OK, but will Charlie really be able to keep Dominique interested?
Also, Bow is way too excited about staying the the dorms and Zoey is already zoning out, LOL.
Take a look at 15+ images from tonight’s show with a closer look at more of Bow/Zoey’s Brown adventures and the rest of the Johnson kids attempting to make things happen for Charlie.
The new black-ish airs at 9:31pm ET|PT on ABC and we’ll be live tweeting (@WeSoNerdy), so come watch with us!
