20th Century Fox releases the official synopsis, first trailer, and motion poster for X-Men: Apocalypse, coming May 27, 2016.
Since the X-Men film franchise returned in 2011 with X-Men First Class, it’s been fantastic to see the origin story onscreen. Besides the AMAZING cast, I’ve enjoyed going back in time to see how some of our favorite heroes (and villains) developed. Also, the history-buff in me loves seeing the politics of the time play out! Well, the story continues this coming May with the latest film in the series, X-Men: Apocalypse!
This morning, 20th Century Fox released the official synopsis and official trailer. See below for your first glimpse at (Director) Bryan Singer’s new X-Men film starring, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Olivia Munn, Lucas Till, Evan Peters, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Alexandra Shipp, Josh Helman, Lana Condor, and Ben Hardy:
Following the critically acclaimed global smash hit X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer returns with X-MEN: APOCALYPSE.
Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign.
As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
En Sabah Nur/Apocalypse is so scary! How insane is it that he is the foundational figure behind the world’s religions? And of course Magneto would be one of his Four Horsemen…YIKES!
However, I do really enjoy seeing Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), and Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) as youngsters! They’re prepared to fight to protect the world from Apocalypse (well…not Storm), and what better mentors to have than Raven, Hank (Nicholas Hoult), and Professor X!
Speaking of Professor X…that final scene in the trailer when he’s bald… *SHIVERS*
