Today is T.J.’s birthday and we’re going to celebrate We So Nerdy’s fearless leader with style (and Oscar Isaac)!
Happy Birthday, Dear T.J.!!!
From the very moment T.J. and I met, she has been blessing my life.
Back in 2011, I was finishing up my fieldwork in Nigeria and looking forward to some fun times when I got back to the States, starting off with my first trip to San Diego Comic-Con. If you’ll recall, that was the year with the EPIC fail registration system… I remember it taking like three attempts before they finally told us to just refresh the page and hope for the best.
Anywho, I had my 4-day pass in hand, but no hotel. After speaking with my friend (and fellow TwiFangirl) Jess, she linked me up with a friend of hers who was also going to SDCC for the first time, someone she also knew from the Twilight Fandom (Twitarded FTW!). And that person was T.J.! (yes, it really does all come back to Twilight 😉 )
Even before we met in person, I knew T.J. and I would be fellow fangirls of the heart. While I was in Nigeria, she endorsed my new addiction to Merlin and turned me onto Leverage and Legend of the Seeker.
When July came around, I arrived at a hotel room in Mission Valley, knocked on the door, and it was friendship at first sight 🙂
Over the years, T.J.’s friendship has gotten me through A LOT: writing and defending a dissertation, an unpredictable job market, crazy dealings with family, and more.
Of course, then T.J. had the phenomenal idea to start We So Nerdy (the name is HER brainchild), and the rest is history… and a fantastically fun one!
So, on your birthday T.J., I honor you and I thank you. You are the most thoughtful, kind, generous, compassionate, supportive person I know.
Even more, I’m immensely grateful for your continued leadership in making We So Nerdy into our “little engine that could”.
Happy Birthday, my friend, and may this year be full of the joy, success, and blessings you 1,000% deserve!
xoxo,
Funmbi (and Oscar Isaac)
