Tonight, Dre and Bow attempt to get the family finances in order. Get a sneak peek of the new black-ish, airing at 9:31pm ET|PT on ABC.
Every week when we tune into the new episode of black-ish, it really does feel like we’re observing our own families and neighbors.
Last week’s episode (“Old Digger“) highlighted online dating in its signature, humorous way, first with Mama Ruby dating a younger man (to Dre’s chagrin) and then with Junior dealing with a potential cat-fish situation. I personally loved seeing Mama Ruby get her groove on with Davis. He was a good man—small business owner, liked kids, and seemed to share Ruby’s love for Black Jesus. She was happy. Unfortunately, Dre despised the idea of his mother dating anyone, especially a younger man. Of course, it was also evident that Dre treated his parents with a double-standard… he encouraged Pops’ rolling-stone antics with all sorts of younger women. In the end (after ridiculously faking a heart-attack) Dre came to understand that Mama Ruby deserved companionship too.
In tonight’s episode, “Keeping Up with the Johnsons”, written by Courtney Lilly and directed by Millicent Shelton:
DRE AND BOW QUESTION WHETHER THEY’RE LIVING TOO LARGE AND TRY TO BECOME MORE FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE—After a month of heavy spending, Dre and Bow start to question if they are living too large. Dre’s crazy accountant, James Brown, has always been their go-to money guy, but when the topic of finances gets brought up at work, Mr. Stevens refers Dre to his more straight-laced accountant for a second opinion. Dre and Bow realize they need to be more financially responsible and try to prove to each other that they can live without their outrageous expenses. Meanwhile, the kids overhear their parents talking about money and Junior decides to start day trading. (via ABC)
Yet again, black-ish hits on a important issue to many families: budgets, taxes, and money!
Thanks for ABC (via a Complex exclusive) we have an clip from tonight’s show. In the video, Dre and Bow talk about the status of family finances…something that makes both of them very uncomfortable:
