Warner Bros releases the official synopsis, first trailer, and poster for Me Before You, coming June 3, 2016.
Me Before You is one of the most anticipated movies of 2016 for my fellow book lovers! Check out the summary and trailer below then we’ll get into the details!
Oftentimes you find love where you least expect it. Sometimes it takes you where you never expected to go…
Louisa “Lou” Clark (Emilia Clarke) lives in a quaint town in the English countryside. With no clear direction in her life, the quirky and creative 26-year-old goes from one job to the next in order to help her tight-knit family make ends meet. Her normally cheery outlook is put to the test, however, when she faces her newest career challenge. Taking a job at the local “castle,” she becomes caregiver and companion to Will Traynor (Sam Claflin), a wealthy young banker who became wheelchair bound in an accident two years prior, and whose whole world changed dramatically in the blink of an eye.
No longer the adventurous soul he once was, the now cynical Will has all but given up. That is until Lou determines to show him that life is worth living. Embarking together on a series of adventures, both Lou and Will get more than they bargained for, and find their lives—and hearts—changing in ways neither one could have imagined.
I don’t know about you, but I think the casting for this is spot on. Emilia Clarke is completely Louisa with her quirkiness and quick smile, and Sam Claflin is full of the dry wit and vulnerability that we come to know and love in Will Traynor.
Based on the trailer, it seems like the movie is going to follow the book pretty closely, which will be a relief for fans of the book who have been waiting to see this life-changing love story play out on screen.
The supporting cast is strong, too, with Jenna Coleman as Treena and Brendan Coyle as Louisa’s father. I’m excited to see an extended trailer in the future for a peek at Patrick or “Running Man” as Will likes to call him, played by Matthew Lewis.
What was your favorite part of the trailer?
I’m torn between the bumblebee tights present and Will’s smile as Lou comes up from snorkeling. I’m sure we all know this movie is going to cause us so many tears, but they’ll be worth it.
Until June, live boldly.

***UPDATE (3/28/2016)***
A new international trailer released with Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin introducing the clip. The trailer shows Will’s accident, and you just want to grab him and tell him to stop walking! Also, we finally get a look at Lou’s running man, Patrick, at her birthday dinner! I really can’t wait for this one even if I’ll need to bring tissue to the theater.
