Marvel releases the new trailer for Captain America: Civil War and the line that divides our favorite superheroes becomes much clearer.
We’ve known that this showdown was coming for a long time in Captain America: Civil War. We’ve even known the reason that Steve and Tony end up on opposite sides of the argument. Tony thinks the government should monitor the Avengers. Steve thinks that they can manage themselves.
While that doesn’t seem like a huge issue that would cause them to go to war with each other and split the Avengers, it’s the introduction of a reformed(?) Bucky Barnes, aka The Winter Soldier, that sends them over the edge.
Bucky appears to be a huge liability in the trailer. He’s fighting Black Panther and even attempts to shoot Tony in the face. He’s also responsible for shooting War Machine out of the sky and possibly killing him.
Has Steve bitten off more than he can chew by trying to put a leash on Bucky after all the years of torture and conditioning from Hydra? Will his loyalty to his childhood friend be his downfall?
Check out the new movie poster and watch the trailer below:
Can we please talk about the huge fight scene? Scarlet Witch bringing Vision to his knees? Hawkeye and Black Widow still on opposite sides of this fight?
Then there’s this line from Tony that just guts me…
“I was wrong about you. The whole world was wrong about you.”
What about Spiderman making an appearance and taking Cap’s shield like that? Who do you think you are, Spidey?
Like the heroes are split in the film, this movie is going to force a lot people to choose sides in a close-knit fandom. So, are you Team Iron Man? Team Cap? Team Why Can’t We All Just Get Along?
There’s some good news with this trailer. The film releases May 6th, so you have about eight weeks to mentally prepare yourself. I know that I’ll need it; especially since I have a really bad feeling that Bucky is going to be Cap’s undoing.
Ticket sales have officially opened on Fandango so make sure to grab yours for opening weekend!

But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.
