Watch the new international trailer for the upcoming Bridget Jones sequel, Bridget Jones’s Baby, starring Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth, and Patrick Dempsey.
First things first, I need to express how much of a Bridget Jones fan I am. I admit that I haven’t read the books (although I promise to remedy that very soon), but the films PWNED me. I even adored Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, though I know other fans might disagree with me. But come on! Watching Bridget and Mark walk off into the snowy sunset with a rendition of Shade’s “Your Love is King” playing in the background is enough to turn anyone into a swooning puddle of goo.
And believe me, I was happy with that ending! Sure, I’d miss Bridget’s outlandish shenanigans and her EPIC love with Mark Darcy, but knowing that these two had their HEA was good enough.
Well, apparently, nothing lasts forever… Bridget is coming back in a new film this Fall, and we can expect all the humor and drama we’ve come to love.
In the official synopsis and trailer below, we learn that Bridget and Mark have broken up, but that doesn’t stop her from embracing everything life has to offer, including a new man! However, things get pretty complex (and hilarious) when Bridget finds out she’s pregnant…
Oscar winners Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth are joined by Patrick Dempsey for the next chapter of the world’s favorite singleton in Bridget Jones’s Baby. Directed by Sharon Maguire (Bridget Jones’s Diary), the new film in the beloved comedy series based on creator Helen Fielding’s heroine finds Bridget unexpectedly expecting.
After breaking up with Mark Darcy (Firth), Bridget Jones’s (Zellweger) “happily ever after” hasn’t quite gone according to plan. Fortysomething and single again, she decides to focus on her job as top news producer and surround herself with old friends and new. For once, Bridget has everything completely under control. What could possibly go wrong?
Then her love life takes a turn and Bridget meets a dashing American named Jack (Dempsey), the suitor who is everything Mr. Darcy is not. In an unlikely twist she finds herself pregnant, but with one hitch…she can only be fifty percent sure of the identity of her baby’s father.

“Oh no Bridget! Who’s the father? Is it Mark’s?”
“There’s at least a 50% chance.”
“A 50% chance?! Did you have a three-way?!”
*DIES FROM LAUGHTER*
Oh my goodness, talk about outlandish shenanigans, right?!
Bridget always had fantastic taste in men… 😉
First, I LOVE Colin Firth as Mark Darcy…seeing him all suave and debonaire still makes my tummy flutter. But I can’t lie, I’m really excited to see Patrick Dempsey in this role.
Jim Broadbent and Gemma Jones return as Bridget’s parents, Emma Thompson joins the cast as Bridget’s OBGYN, and you have to wonder if Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant) might show up too!
