Why is Ruby/Red in Underbrooke? It has something to do with Dorothy and Zelena! Get a sneak peek of tonight’s Once Upon a Time, airing at 8pm ET|PT on ABC.
Oncers, we need to talk. Remember a couple episodes ago in “Our Decay” when Rumple said this:
“Belle, there’s something you must realize. Falling in love with the man behind the beast isn’t really what happened to you. You fell in love with me because there was a man and a beast. Neither exists without the other.”
This frankness from Rumple was unexpected, but I think what has been more shocking is that his characterization of Belle seems to be spot on. Despite her rhetoric, despite what Belle might believe, she has chosen Rumple. This was quite evident in last week’s episode (“Her Handsome Hero“) when Belle pushed Gaston into the River of Lost Souls. Granted, this might have been an accident, but she did it to save Rumple. At the same time, Belle fully expected that Hades would keep his bargain and let go of his claim over the baby, even though it didn’t pan out that way because of a technicality—Rumple or Gaston had to kill the other, not Belle. Trickster Hades strikes again!
So how are Rumple and Belle going to free themselves from Hades now? Well, after Zelena revealed to Regina (in a very sweet Sister/Sister moment) that she was Hades’ only weakness, it might be possible for them all to leverage this.
In other developments, Underbrooke got even more crowded when the heroes came upon Ruby in the woods (first as her wolf self, now as her human self). Why in the world in Red in town?
In tonight’s episode “Ruby Slippers” (written by Andrew Chambliss and Bill Wolkoff, directed by Eriq La Salle):
RUBY ENLISTS OUR HEROES HELP TO FIND DOROTHY—In flashbacks, Ruby and Mulan find themselves in Oz, where they meet Dorothy. After the three witness Zelena’s return to Oz, they look for a way to defeat her once and for all. However, Dorothy mysteriously disappears, and Ruby’s search for her new friend lands her in the Underworld. Reunited with the heroes, Ruby teams up with Emma, Regina and Snow to continue looking for Dorothy. Meanwhile, Snow and David struggle with not being able to be with their son, Neal, and devise a plan so that one of them can escape the Underworld. (via ABC)
So Meghan Ory (Ruby/Red), Jamie Chung (Mulan), and Teri Reeves (Dorothy) will all be reprising their guest star roles tonight!
Watch these two clips from the upcoming show. The first is a flashback to Ruby and Mulan in Oz, apparently searching for Ruby’s pack. They make a couple new friends along the way.
And in the second clip, Hades reaches out to Zelena again to warn her about Ruby’s arrival in Underbrooke.
