This past weekend, Beauty and the Beast‘s original voice cast and creators returned to Lincoln Center for a special screening, Q&A, and performance by Alan Menken and Angela Lansbury!

Tale as old as time. Song as old as rhyme. Beauty and the beast…
25 years ago, Beauty and the Beast, one of our Disney faves, hit theaters!
In August 1991, the Film Society of Lincoln Center first showed Beauty and the Beast (still a work-in-progress) at the New York Film Festival.
And this past Sunday (September 18, 2016), the original film’s cast and creators returned to Lincoln Center for a special screening.
Before the screening, Robby Benson (voice of Beast), Paige O’Hara (voice of Belle), Angela Lansbury (voice of Mrs. Potts), Richard White (voice of Gaston), Alan Menken (composer), and Don Hahn (Producer) came on stage for a conversation reflecting on making Beauty and the Beast and the film’s acclaim and legacy:
“When I think of the history of this film, and the young children who fell in love with it as little toddlers and grew up and still continue to watch it and tell me about it — it’s so interesting, they will tell me about scenes in the film as if I hadn’t been anywhere near it.”—Angela Lansbury, via Entertainment Weekly
Then after the screening, Alan Menken gave a surprise performance of his several of his Disney hits from Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Hercules, and Beauty and the Beast.
Even more exciting, Ms. Lansbury also came on stage to sing the iconic title song! Watch it below and flail along with me 🙂
Oh my goodness, SO MANY FEELINGS!
Take a look at 30+ images from the special screening (other celebrities like Edie Falco, Robert and Kristen Anderson Lopez (Frozen), Linda Larkin (Aladdin), Paige Davis, Bethenny Frankel (RHONY), Jules Weinstein (RHONY), Stephanie Styles, and Laura Osnes joined the fun).
And remember that the 25th anniversary edition of Beauty and the Beast is out on blu-ray/DVD today! Go HERE to check out the details, and order your copy.
