In the newest King Arthur: Legend of the Sword trailer, the iconic origin unfolds with a stylized twist.
By now you know that we’re *massive* fans of our fave boo-thang Charlie Hunnam, and we cannot wait to see him take on the lead role in Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword!
Hunnam was on hand at last year’s Comic-Con to present a first look at the film and answer questions about what we can expect from this stylized look at the classic Arthurian tale.
This new take on King Arthur is definitely action-packed.
In the newly released trailer, we see that as a young man, Arthur’s parents are killed by the villain (and Arthur’s uncle) Vortigern (Jude Law). P.S. YES, that’s Eric Bana playing Uther Pendragon!
Arthur and grows up on the outskirts of the kingdom, primarily in hiding, while he and his buddies cause all sorts of trouble in the streets of Camelot.
However, things change when Arthur starts having visions of his future, including the iconic moment when he pulls the sword out of the stone. What does this all mean? Take a look at the trailer below:
“From nothing comes a King…”
I’m so excited to see the portrayal of the mysticism and lore. Of course it doesn’t hurt that Djaimon Honsou is along for the ride as Sir Bedivere, a Merlin-like character.
What did you think of the trailer?
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword hits theaters on May 12, 2017 (no longer, the March 24 date previously announced).

Acclaimed filmmaker Guy Ritchie brings his dynamic style to the epic fantasy action adventure “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.” Starring Charlie Hunnam in the title role, the film is an iconoclastic take on the classic Excalibur myth, tracing Arthur’s journey from the streets to the throne.
When the child Arthur’s father is murdered, Vortigern (Jude Law), Arthur’s uncle, seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy…whether he likes it or not.
Starring with Hunnam (FX’s “Sons of Anarchy”) and Oscar nominee Law (“Cold Mountain,” “The Talented Mr. Ripley”) are Astrid Bergès-Frisbey (“Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”) as Mage; Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou (“Blood Diamond,” “In America”) as Bedivere; Aidan Gillen (HBO’s “Game of Thrones”) as Goosefat Bill; and Eric Bana (“Star Trek”) as Arthur’s father, King Uther Pendragon.
