A Lady’s Code of Misconduct by Meredith Duran is book five in the Rules for the Reckless series and it’s out now!
This novel is full of mystery and intrigue. Crispin Burke is on the cusp of being Prime Minister, and he really doesn’t need anything standing in his way, especially a woman. Jane has been locked away in the country for years because her uncle intends to use her dowry once she’s married to his son (her cousin), Archibald.
When disaster strikes and Crispin is left with no memory, he wakes up to Jane being his wife and a very bad impression of the man he was before his injury. He was ruthless and did whatever it took to get his way. Now, with Jane at his side, he’s finding out that he’s a different man entirely.
All the while, Jane waits for his memory to resurface and for him to find out her most dreadful secret…why she married him in the first place.
This one starts out a bit slow and there’s a good bit of lying by omission, but I do love the mystery behind it. I haven’t read any of the other novels in the series, and I had no trouble diving into this one, so don’t worry about it being number five.
Crispin and Jane are a great couple, too. I feel like they really need one another because they’ve been hiding their true selves for so long.
