It’s time for the season finale of The Walking Dead and the beginning of all out war! Here’s our preview for “The First Day of the Rest of Your Life”!

Several things happened last week on The Walking Dead to put us in position for an exciting season finale. Maggie saved Gregory’s life from walkers, and along with others from Hilltop, realized that he had never killed a walker before.
This pushes him over the edge and he finally decides to seek out Simon. What he’ll tell him, we don’t know, but it might have something to do with what Negan told Sasha about a little bird telling him Rick was up to things. Of course, it could be Jadis, too, since we aren’t too sure of her loyalties right now.
The group set up a well-coordinated attack on Oceanside, and while no human lives were lost, we saw some awesome walkers, courtesy of Greg Nicotero. Team Family took all their guns, and even a few women from the community want to help them fight Negan. Whether that pans out, we still don’t know.
Sasha is almost assaulted in her cell, but Negan pops up just in time. Apparently, Negan has a few rules, and rape is a big no-no in his Sanctuary. He stabs the man who was going to rape Sasha through the throat then leaves the knife.
Negan tells her that he wants someone like her with her “lady balls”. She can either kill the guy before he becomes a walker, let him become walker and eat her, or she can kill herself. He leaves the decision to her and leaves the cell.
In the end, Sasha uses the knife to stop the man after he turns, and Negan comes back and she tells him that she’s on board with his plan, and that she’ll help him. He doesn’t give in easy and keeps her locked in the cell.
Someone like Sasha wouldn’t break that easily, and Negan knows it.
Eugene pays Sasha a visit, and she admits that she regrets telling Negan what she did, and that she wants his help to find a way out. She wants to die.
Eventually Eugene brings her a pill her made for one of Negan’s wives. He tells her that she doesn’t want her to die.
You can watch the outstanding scene here:
The episode ends with Rick and the others making it back to the ASZ, but they have a visitor. Rosita has brought back Dwight from the Sanctuary, and none of them are happy about it.
Daryl has to be held back and Rick tells Dwight to get on his knees.

“The First Day of the Rest of Your Life” will focus on the upcoming war with Negan. Our group is getting together with other communities and fortifying Alexandria for battle. Ezekiel and Shiva are making their way to the ASZ with Morgan and Carol. This will mark the first time Carol has been back since she left in Season Six.
Meanwhile in the ASZ, Dwight ends up with Daryl’s knife at his throat, and we don’t know if he’ll get the answers he’s looking for, but it’s safe to say that Daryl and Dwight will never be close. Even if Dwight’s telling the truth about wanting to kill Negan. (Which I think he is. After he lost Sherry, he changed.)
Eugene seems to really be settling into the Sanctuary, and that makes me upset. I know Eugene tries to adapt to situations, but at the same time, he’s disrespecting Abraham and Glenn’s memory. We’ll see how this turns out. Maybe he’ll turn around?
Our main concern lies with Sasha. If she takes Eugene’s pill, she’ll die, but she won’t destroy her brain, so she’ll turn. If she’s a walker, Negan could use this to further hurt Team Family.
Also, what did Gregory do? Will Jadis make an appearence?
This is an extended episode, so hopefully all our questions will be answered! “The First Day of the Rest of Your Life” was directed by Greg Nicotero and written by show runner, Scott M. Gimple, Angela Kang (known for writing great Daryl episodes), and Matthew Negrete.
