Where in Westeros are our favorite (and not so favorite) Game of Thrones characters? 15 newly released images from Season 7 give us some clues!
Earlier this afternoon HBO released 15 new images from Game of Thrones‘ upcoming season!
Besides being able to see where in Westeros our favorite (and not so favorite) characters are, we also get some clues into the upcoming alliances.
At the end of March, HBO shared the first Season 7 trailer featuring Daenerys, Jon Snow, and Cersei each taking an extended walk down their respective hallways and eventually take their seats.
From that video, many have speculated that Dany has arrived at Dragonstone, the ancestral seat of House Targaryen.
In the new images, we see that Dany is joined by Tyrion (looking shnazzy with his “Hand of the Queen” pin), Varys, Missandei, and Grey Worm. In last of these photos, the group stands together, in front of the other Unsullied. Perhaps Dany has begun her attempts to campaign to other Westeros houses to join her?
Meanwhile, in Kings Landing, Cersei sits on the Iron Throne, and surprisingly (at least to me), Jaime is by her side! I think it’s interesting/shocking that Cersei did the very thing Jaime killed the Mad King to prevent, the unleashing of wild fire on the city. So, what does Jaime really think of the way Cersei came to the throne?
In the North, Jon is surrounded by friends like Lady Lyanna Mormont (LOVE HER!) and Ser Davos. It looks like Brienne has made her way to Winterfell and is still being annoyed by Tormund (I don’t even care because my Oafkeeper ship will sail!). It’s also good that Brienne is around, because the image of Sansa and Petyr Baelish suggest a potential alliance between them, which makes me nervous! I hope Sansa is playing the game, and truly, I still think that the best way forward is for Jon and Sansa to get married (it reinforces his place as King in the North and protects Sansa from having to be married off again).
The images also suggest that Sandor Clegane is in the North, likely joining the Brotherhood Without Banners in their plan to fight the great evil that’s coming (White Walkers?).
Now that Bran has learned EVERYTHING, including Jon’s parentage, he and Meera are hopefully heading to Winterfell too. At the same time, it still isn’t clear where Arya is. After she killed the Freys at the Riverlands, I was hoping that she would make her way to Winterfell too. Or is she more concerned with knocking out more names on her list?
Finally, Samwell seems to be accepted as a scholar at the Citadel and has begun his training to be a maester. How interesting that Gilly is allowed to join him!
