CaptainSwan is getting married y’all!!! Watch a sneak peek of Sunday’s Once Upon a Musical special event.

Oncers, the time as come, and I’m so excited I will quite literally burst into song! Tomorrow is the Once Upon a Musical special event, which also coincides with CaptainSwan’s wedding! How can so much perfect be crammed into a one hour time-slot?! And how will we survive it?!
OK, first things first, let’s recall the events that bring us to this point. As promised, last week’s episode “The Black Fairy” reveals the real reason why BF forsakes Rumple as a baby, and the truth is something I don’t think we could ever expect!
In a flashback to the Fairy Tale world, we witness Fiona (Black Fairy) giving birth to Rumple, with her husband Malcolm (Pan) at her side. The Blue Fairy and Tiger Lily (her son’s Fairy Godmother) immediately appear with good news: their child would be the Savior, with great light magic. (WHOA!) Fiona loves her son so much, which is why she’s distressed to learn the truth about the Savior’s destiny, to die at the hands of a great evil during a Final Battle. She ends up turning herself into a fairy so she has the power to protect her son. Tiger Lily is shocked, but does help Fiona search for the evil born during that winter. They search the land, checking every baby born for the crescent scar that will mark the great evil. Yet they have no luck.
Fiona is even more frustrated and proposes the create THE Dark Curse. If she removes them all to a land without magic, her son will be safe. Tiger Lily helps Fiona get into the Sacred Fairy Vault, but refuses to help once she sees the extreme danger of the Dark Curse. The cost is too high! Fiona attempts to kill Tiger Lily by crushing her heart, but Blue steps in. This is the deed that turns Fiona into the Black Fairy, bearing the crescent scar. SHE becomes the great evil that will kill her son. Tiger Lily makes a suggestion: if Fiona uses the Agrabhan shears to cut herself from her destiny, she’ll no longer be the great evil that will kill her son. But rather than give up her power, Fiona severs her son from his fate. Blue banishes BF to the realm where she remains imprisoned. When Tiger Lily and Blue bring the baby back to Malcolm, he’s distraught to learn that Fiona isn’t coming back. He blames his son for losing his son and names him Rumpelstiltskin, reflecting the end of their happiness.
In Storybrooke, just as Blue is waking from her coma, Black Fairy and Gideon (disguised as Snow and Charming) kidnap her. But just before, Blue is able to convey that the rest of the wand from Tiger Lily is located at the center of Storybrooke. At the same time, Rumple is able to slap a cuff on Gideon, preventing him from using magic. Now Rumple can focus on getting Gideon’s heart back. Gideon tries to resist BF and tell his parents where his heart is located, but it’s so painful. So, Rumple devises and idea… he puts, Gideon, Emma, and himself to sleep and the travel to the dream realm. Why take Emma? So she can’t attack BF before Rumple can get Gideon’s heart.
Elsewhere, Regina sets about trying to teach Zelena skills to live in the real world, like how to drive a car and build furniture from Ikea. In case the Final Battle goes pear-shaped, and Henry loses both of his mothers, Zelena would be able to get them (and Baby Robin) to safety.
Snow, Charming, Killian, and Regina eventually find the rest of the wand, under the jukebox at Granny’s (the center and heart of Storybrooke). Black Fairy intervenes, tries to take the wand, and ends up dueling with Regina in the street. Just when it looks like BF will get the wand, Zelena (who now can drive), runs Black Fairy over. It’s awesome!
Back in the dream realm, we quickly learn that we’re in Rumple’s dream, in the very house where he spends his childhood. Rumple and Emma eventually find Gideon in the dream realm, but he still doesn’t know where his heart it. What Gideon does know is that Rumple can learn the Black Fairy’s darkest secret, the reason she gave him up. And there’s power in that answer. Rumple opens himself up (despite making himself vulnerable) and learns the whole truth…about being born a Savior and having his mother sever him from his destiny. Now that they all know the truth, Emma believes that Rumple is the Savior meant to fight the Black Fairy. They give him the full wand and he goes to confront his mother.
When Rumple confronts Black Fairy, we hear a similar refrain… a parent chooses power over their child, out of a misguided desire to protect them. Pan does the same thing, and Rumple does as well.
Rumple returns to the Heroes and tells them he’s banished Black Fairy and that all is safe. He even gives Gideon his heart back. However, this isn’t true. Rumple has made an alliance with Black Fairy, which centers on Emma’s death. (But could Rumple MAYBE be playing a double-triple agent, secretly working against his mother?)
Meanwhile, Killian asks Henry to be his best man (the most important mission yet, Operation Best Man!) because the CaptainSwan wedding is tomorrow!!!
In this week’s musical episode “The Song in Your Heart” (written by David H. Goodman and Andrew Chambliss, directed by Ron Underwood, with songs by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner, and Mark Isham as the composer for the show):
THE STORYBROOKE RESIDENTS DISCOVER THE POWER OF SONG, WHILE EMMA AND HOOK PREPARE TO WALK DOWN THE AISLE—In flashback, Snow and Charming make a special wish that Emma will be protected. The result of their wish has the whole kingdom bursting into song which infuriates the Evil Queen. Meanwhile in Storybrooke, the Black Fairy announces her plans to unleash another curse on the town while Emma and Hook prepare for their wedding. (via ABC)
