Netflix’s The Crown will drop its second season on December 8th, and it will be Claire Foy’s last turn as Queen Elizabeth, so who will wear the crown next? Olivia Colman! Take a look at the details below!

We absolutely adore The Crown and couldn’t stop watching Season One. We’ve been waiting oh-so-patiently for Season Two for months and have been on the edge of our seats for casting news concerning the show.
It’s already been established that The Crown will run for six seasons and span the Queen’s life to current day. Additionally, we’ve been told that cast members will change as the series progresses as to fit with the age of the Royal Family members being portrayed in the show.
Claire Foy has brilliantly played Queen Elizabeth in the first two seasons, focusing on the Queen’s early life, and Olivia Colman will play the Queen for seasons three and four, during her middle years.
Colman is a veteran actress and promises to be spectacular in this role. Recent credits include: The Night Manager and Broadchurch and she will also be in Murder on the Orient Express this holiday season.
While we wait for the crown to actually be handed over, what can we expect from season two?
Foy has won a Golden Globe for her role as the Queen and absolutely nails the struggle that the Queen must face between being a monarch and being a wife and mother. She’s restrained and follows the rules to the letter. All the while, she must put up with her probably philandering husband, Prince Philip, and her rebellious younger sister, Princess Margaret.
Season two will see more drama concerning Her Royal Highness and Prince Philip since this is at the height of rumors he cheated on her. This season will also see Princess Margaret marry Lord Snowdon after her affair with Townsend ended last season. Expect lots and lots of drama from season two, but also prepare yourself for seasons three and four which will focus on the time when Prince Charles marries Princess Diana.

I’ll be completely honest, I don’t know how this show gets away with putting half of this dirt out there. I know the rumors have been around for a while, and its even been written in a couple of biographies over the family or members of the family, but to see it as a quality television production is insane.
I really need to know if anyone in Clarence House has watched this show, and I’d LOVE to know what their thoughts were on it.
So, what do you think of this casting news and are you looking forward to the new season as much as we are? You can check out the first stills from season two below! New additions to the cast for season two include Michael C. Hall as President John F. Kennedy and Matthew Goode as Princess Margaret’s future husband, Lord Snowdon.
