Both Claire and Jamie make it to land, but the struggle to find their way back to each other continues. Watch a sneak peek of this week’s Outlander, “Uncharted”!

In spite of the title of the previous week’s episode, last week’s Outlander felt more like “the doldrums.” Up until the end of “Heaven and Earth”, both Claire and Jamie were trapped against their wills. Yet, they came into contact with acquaintances (old and new) that were able to help them move forward (and hopefully closer to a reunion).
As we mentioned in our video review, our MVPs for “Heaven & Earth” were Elias Pound, Annekje, and Fersali. Elias was Claire’s number two man, ride-or-die and ready to help her get the Porpoise thorough the worst of the typhoid outbreak. Unfortunately, it came at the cost of his own life. Yet, like Claire, I found Elias to be impressive in his kindness and uprightness. And when Claire was ready to flee from the Porpoise (to prevent Captain Leonard from using her as bait to capture Jamie), it was Annekje “my goats need grass” Johansen who was able to help her escape. On the Artemis, despite Jamie’s sullenness, Fergus and Marsali were able to prevent him from risking his life in a desperate move to save Claire.
For more thoughts about “Heaven & Earth”, check out our full episode recap and also make sure to watch EPs Ron Moore, Toni Graphia, and Matthew B. Roberts talk about the origin of the episode title and the amount of research production had to do to make Claire’s time on the Porpoise (from the set design to the costumes and burials-at-see) as authentic as possible:

By the end of “Heaven & Earth” both Jamie and Claire are closer to making landfall. In “Uncharted” (written by Karen Campbell and Shannon Goss, directed by Charlotte Brandström)
After making a leap of faith, Claire washes up on a seemingly deserted island where survival is her only option. Navigating treacherous waters has crippled the Artemis, so Jamie devises a joyful moment for his crew in the midst of devastating setbacks. (via STARZ)
In this clip from “Uncharted” (via Town & Country Magazine exclusive), we see that Claire survives her jump and makes it to land. But, it seems to be an out of the frying pan, into the fire type of situation. The person who has found Claire doesn’t seem very kind, but they are taking care of her…
This lady is quite taken with Claire’s undergarments. I’m just hoping she doesn’t overreact to that zipper and Claire ends up in even more trouble *SIGH*
