What is Adonis Creed willing to risk when the Dragos return to issue a challenge? Watch the latest trailer from CREED II, out this November!
LEGACY. DESTINY. FAMILY.
One of the things I love most about the ROCKY series, is that it’s the quintessential underdog story. Time and time again, Rocky Balboa rises up against impossible physical and emotional odds to claim victory. The reason why ROCKY III is my favorite of the films is that Apollo Creed, the man who was once his fierce adversary, becomes the primary force in propelling Rocky to reclaiming his heavyweight championship, once again.
This friendship between Rocky and Apollo becomes the foundation for the contemporary CREED series. Adonis’ struggle with his father’s legacy as he tries to make his own name in the boxing world compels him to turn to Rocky for help. And it’s Rocky’s love for Apollo and probably some lingering guilt about Apollo’s death at the hands of Ivan Drago (ROCKY IV) that leads Rocky to take Donnie under his wing.
As we begin CREED II, these legacies loom large. Donnie is building a family with Bianca; however, when Viktor Drago, Ivan’s son, issues a challenge to fight Donnie in the ring, it triggers all the pain of losing Apollo. Watch the latest trailer here:
Round after round, you learn more about yourself…
Can we talk about the brief flash at 2:06 of Rocky and Ivan in the ring, making eye contact?! And the conversation between Donnie and Apollo’s wife Mary-Anne (Phylicia Rashad) at 1:26… I can’t imagine what she will go through, thinking about losing her son to the same people that killed her husband! *WEEPING*
Guys, this is going to be devastating. And I really can’t wait.
Remember, CREED II hits theaters on November 21, 2018!
