In this week’s Outlander, Jamie and Claire are bouncing from River Run. And we finally get a chance to catch up with Bree and Roger in the 20th Century. Get a sneak peek of “The False Bride”!
Sassenachs, if you’re like me, you’re still working through last week’s Outlander episode, “Do No Harm.” If you’ve read my recap/review or watched our video review (below), you’ll know that I’m not happy with the way Claire handles Rufus’s death by denying him information and choice in his final moments.
While I still feel this way, I do understand that, given the intense pressure of the moment, perhaps Rufus never had agency over his death. And Claire and Jamie are just doing the best they can in a horrific situation. By the end of “Do No Harm,” it’s clear that Claire, Jamie, and Ian are bouncing as soon as possible. Part of me is happy to see them make their own way, outside of this barbarous, slave-based society. But upon further reflection, I’m angry. The actions Jamie and Claire take have unleashed even more violence and uncertainty, especially towards the remainder of River Run’s slaves. And while Jamie and Claire get to escape, that havoc remains (though we may not see it onscreen). No, I’m not happy about that at all, *SIGH*
And yet, the story forces us to shift our focus as it moves on. In “The False Bride” (written by Jennifer Yale, directed by Ben Bolt):
Jamie and Claire search for a place to call home with Young Ian and John Quincy Myers, a local mountain man. Meanwhile, in the 20th century, Brianna and Roger’s romance heats up and then fizzles during a road trip that winds up highlighting their differences. (via STARZ)
This week, we’re finally catching up with Bree and Roger! Watch a clip from Sunday’s episode where Roger arrives in Boston and Bree meets him at the airport.
*EEEP* Things between them is so adorably awkward! But let’s go on a road trip!
Check out 15 images from “The False Bride” where we get a glimpse of Jamie and Claire bouncing from River Run (Jocasta isn’t happy). Make sure to live tweet the new episode with us at 8p/9c this Sunday (November 18) on STARZ!
