The midseason finale of The Walking Dead left many loose ends to pick up when it returns. Let’s look at those, and the teaser for the second half of the season!

The Walking Dead returns in less than a month, and I’m bet you’re beginning to remember the questions the midseason finale left us with. I know I sure did. One of the biggest non-questions is answered pretty quickly with the new trailer, though.
Gamma approaches the ASZ survivors and tells them what happened to Daryl, Carol, Jerry, Magna, Connie, and Kelly.
We also get some moments between Daryl and Caryl in the teaser where he says that he can’t turn his back on her anymore because she’ll do something stupid. For all you Caryl shippers out there, it’s a breadcrumb. For the rest of us, it’s a man finally coming to terms with the fact that his friend doesn’t care who she gets killed as long as she gets revenge. I’m going to eventually go into how they’ve chipped away at her character one day. I swear.
In the ASZ, Rosita’s may be hallucinating Whisperers, so Saddiq’s PTSD arch could be continued with her. There’s a brief moment where she looks like she’s about to let Eugene kiss her, but remember how they played everyone with the Michonne/Ezekiel kiss in the season ten trailer? Don’t hold out hope for that non-ship to sail.
Gabriel will also have to deal with the guilt (or non-guilt) of killing Dante. I’m betting Gabriel will have some crisis of conscience because that’s the kind of person he is.
Meanwhile, Michonne has left with Virgil to retrieve the weapons he promised her. The biggest question about this side-quest is: How will the show handle her departure? Remember, this is the last season for Danai.
Will she learn where Rick is? Will Michonne abandon Judith and R.J. to find him and send Virgil to tell everyone where she went? I don’t feel like this gels with Michonne’s characterization. Staying away eight years doesn’t sound like Rick either, but I’m sure he has his reasons…
When it comes down to Negan, he’s still with the Whisperers, and it appears that he’ll gain Alpha’s trust by outing the spy in her midst. Will he guess right with Gamma, though? I still feel the endgame is for Negan to kill Alpha. It would complete the shitty redemption arch they have him on.
