The Walking Dead will be back next month with six new episodes. Check out the first trailer here and get the details for the premiere!

The Walking Dead has made headlines for over a decade, and the pilot series will end its run with season 11. However, we will be getting an extended season 10 and six new episodes before we dive into season 11. These six episodes will be more character driven and dig into their journey in between these two seasons. One of the more exciting threads we’ll follow is Maggie Rhee’s. We haven’t seen her in some time, and now she’ll come back into The Walking Dead universe and face a nearly-trusted Negan.
I’ve never been on board with Negan’s redemption tour, and I think his episode will set out to recon him into an anti-hero instead of the villain. I hate it so much. I love JDM, but Negan has never shown remorse unless he was shamed into it. It will be interesting to see how Maggie works through her trauma and her son’s questions in regard to Negan.
In the trailer, Maggie speaks to Daryl about Hershel and his questions about Negan.
“He asked how his daddy died. I told him that a bad man killed him, and he wanted to know if that man got what he deserved.”
We can answer that question with a resounding no. However, AMC, certain TWD fans, and Robert Kirkman show their never-ending love for his character. I’m sure Maggie will decide to live in a tenuous truce with Negan because the writers don’t have the nerve to let her kill him.
These six episodes will also allow us more insight into the group that took Eugene, Miko, Ezekiel, and Princess. These discount brand Stormtroopers will likely play a huge part in season 11 and tie The Walking Dead universe together more fully.
The extended episodes will premiere on February 28 at 9/8c! All episodes will premiere early on AMC+.
In these six new episodes, we find our survivors trying to pick themselves up by their bootstraps following the destruction the Whisperers left in their wake. The years of struggle weigh upon them as past traumas surface, exposing their more vulnerable sides. As they question the state of humanity, the state of their collective community, and the states of their minds, will they find the inner strength to persevere with their lives, friendships, and group intact?
New guest stars featured in these episodes include Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Perry Mason, Scorpion) as “Mays” and Hilarie Burton Morgan (One Tree Hill, White Collar, Friday Night In with the Morgans) as “Lucille,” along with new co-star Okea Eme-Akwari (Greenland, Cobra Kai) as “Elijah,” among others.
